Bittergourd with curd

lazy cooks next item….. I bet, even those who don’t like bittergourd will surely like this recipe….


1. Bittergourd – 4 to 6 (depending on size)
2. Onion (big) – 1 or 2 (depending on size)
3. Green chilli – 2
4. Tomato – 1 or 2 (depending on size)
5. Chilli powder – 1 tsp
6. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
7. Coriander powder – 1 tsp
8. Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
9. Coconut milk – 1/2 cup
10. Curd – 1 cup
11. Curry leaves & mustard & urad dal for seasoning
12. Little oil
13. Salt


1. Cut the bittergourd into thin round shape pieces. Chop the onion and tomato
2. Heat a pan adding oil to it
3. Put mustard & urad dal… After it spurts, add curry leaves and bittergourd.
4. Fry the bittergourd until it turns brown (properly fried)
5. Now add onion and green chilli (onion should not turn brown) and fry for few mins
6. Then add tomato, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, coriander powder and salt. Smash the tomato well and mix properly.
7. Add little water and let it get cooked for sometime in low flame.
8. Now add the coconut milk and cook for 2 mins in the same low flame.
9. Switch off the stove. Remove the pan from the flame and add the curd.
10. Mix and serve….

Done ….

Though the recipe looks lengthy, it all will be done in 10 – 15 mins max.
